MAGIC 3/07/2012
I once found a thing called magic. I found it, oh so well.
I was younger then and wondered then, how the magic casts it's spell.
I lived in a cave and hid from the light. I kept things deep inside.
Then along came a wizard, dressed as a man, and he told me not to hide.
He held his head up where he went. No one could put him down.
He showed me how to smile inside, and change it, from a frown.
He was older and much wiser. He had borne the battle scars;
The ones inside his heart and soul; inside his mental bars.
"Every man is born the same - each man learns to talk."
"Every man, despite his wealth, at one time, learned to walk."
He waved his magic wand of truth, and lived life his own way.
Just by being near this man, I learned the words to say;
The magic spell to cast myself, and guide me on my way.
I owe exactly who I am, to the man who loved to play!

I wrote this for one of America's true heroes, who served two tours in the jungles of Vietnam, and endured ungodly hardships and horrors, only to be frowned on at home. No one has heard his story, because he is a humble man. The man did not suffer one gun shot wound, and returned with his mind and body intact, and spread his joy to everyone he met. Welcome home, Chuck!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you have created a blog. I like the poem. I'd like to see you develop this blog even more. Good job, Don. Frank

ReplyDeleteI think this is my favorite so far......about a man who could rise above the horrors around him and spread a message of hope and love.....give me such a good feeling........
ReplyDeleteI'm looking for a Donald C. Seiler, Jr. Heard he has a gift for magic.
ReplyDeleteThis was a great reply, Frank. I missed it, until just last week. Thanks. Such a nice thing to say, and so much in your style. Thank you, so much.
DeleteWhat a tribute, Don. You really have a way with words. You are one gifted man. I'm very proud of you.: ) Frank
ReplyDeleteThank You, Frank. You are a true friend. I read this at Chuck's funeral service. It was a little hard to get through. I always write emotions, and then to have to present them in public, is like baring your soul. Thank you very much for the sentiment, and the encouragement that you give me. I consider it an honor. :) Don
DeleteFor one TRUE man!
ReplyDeleteVery good poem, Donald.
It is obvious that you love him very much.
He will always live in the hearts of all who knew him. He has shown how man to lives ..
With hope and love toward everything around.
To smile inside .. true .. in the heart and soul us. To be good.
Because all people are equal, we are made from the same dough.
SOME PEOPLE... just help us TO FIND OUR WAY TOWARD HIMSELF ...
Life is a magic, in which no unworthy. Let just be ourselves.
Let's we realize yourself, our true self.
Thank You, Borjy. Your words are comforting at this difficult time. Your words speak much truth.
Delete..I believe in the immortality of the soul. I believe in the afterlife. Maybe he's somewhere in the stars, perhaps in a different space and time or across space and time..
ReplyDeleteI believe that every person has a unique mission in the world. And it is not only in making money and worldly success. It can include this, but it is not the most important.
Small things like the sound of the wind in the leaves and shadows of the clouds, give us a clearer sense of purpose in life. And for our mission.
Once again, Borjy, these are very nice and comforting words and thoughts. They help me to get through the loss of his life. Chuck would be the first to say that this was just part of the circle of life. He, too, believed that we live on, and that our bodies are just machines. Now, he lives in the gentle breeze that flows and in the gentle sunset and spectacular sunrise. AND, he lives in the hearts of those that love him. Thank You.
