D.C. Seiler, Jr.: Pastures of the Sun

The Cavalcade

Calm, calm the pain away, until the night becomes the day.
Let the power flow through you, as the darkness slips away.
Every day you see so much with eyes that feel the touch,
Of ancient hands, and ancient ways, you miss them, oh so much.
Fear not the solace of the dark.  Fear not the battle sword.
Fear not the callous thoughtless things that strike an evil chord.
The brew that lights the fire, tips the spark inside the brain.
It's cuffed beneath such grave lament, when all you feel is pain.
You slip between the leaches that you watch inside the day.
Destroy their power with your pen, and make them fall away.
For payment due is payment owed and money is hard spent.
So every word on every page, is gold to them, not lent.
Let them play their tricks on you, until they're bored to tears.
And give the ancient powers bold a bastion for their fears.
The night is long and colors sweet, derived from eye-slit shades,
And man, nor beast, nor useless waste, can stop the cavalcade.

  1. My favorite line "Fear not the solace of the dark." Every day is a cavalcade of people, events and demands that can stir our minds and souls so much that we just want to withdraw from it. But with each new day is power to face another day. Like this, Don.

  2. About your side bar ads. They are tastefully done. I've been approached by advertisers who want to place side bar ads on my site. I won't do it because I think it takes away from the quality of my site. Mostly they are a distractions from my stories. Yours are nicely placed. Frank
